Qui vedete il terminal dell'aeroporto, dietro al quale ci sono le piste di atterraggio dalla nostra terrazza. La recinzione è letteralmente a 40 passi dal cancello!
Quando i monaci, faticosamente, hanno comperato il pezzettino di terra su cui costruire la scuola, erano in mezzo al niente, e la città di Pokhara era a 20 minuti di strada.
Davanti al monastero c'era una prateria dove, d'inverno, i Mustangi portavano i cavalli e li lasciavano liberi. I bambini avevano tutto lo spazio che volevano per giocare!
Poi é iniziata la costruzione del nuovo aeroporto internazionale di Pokhara, praticamente a 40 metri dal nostro cancello! E' stato inaugurato il primo gennaio 2023. E come se non bastasse, tutto in torno sono spuntate case. Adesso i bambini hanno poco più che un cortile in cui giocare. Senza contare che da quando l'aeroporto ha aperto i battenti molti soffrono di congiuntivite e di mal di gola, cosa che non era mai successa prima.
La soluzione sarebbe spostare la scuola in campagna. Che risolverebbe anche altri problemi se potessimo avere abbastanza terreno. Ovvero, il problema delle aule senza ventilazione, delle camerate insufficienti, buie e umide, della mancanza cronica di verdure e frutta nella dieta, della mancanza di spazio per giocare.
Per questo motivo ho iniziato una raccolta fondi, usando l'unica piattaforma che ci ha accettati, tutte le altre si rifiutano di lavorare con piccole realtà in Nepal. Sarebbe bello avere un'associazione italiana, ma essendo io qui, è difficile metterla in piedi.
Sono testarda, come mio papà, a anche se in Nepal i prezzi della terra, anche lontano dalla città sono assurdamente alti, non mollerò finché non li avrò portati in campagna! :)

When the monks painstakingly bought the small piece of land on which to build the school, they were in the middle of nowhere, and the city of Pokhara was 20 minutes away by road.
In front of the monastery there was a mead where, in winter, the Mustangis brought their horses and set them free. The children had all the space they wanted to play!
Then the construction of the new Pokhara International Airport started, practically 40 meters from our gate! It was inaugurated on January 1, 2023. And as if that weren't enough, houses have sprung up all around. Now children have little more than a concrete courtyard to play in. Not to mention that since the airport opened its doors many suffer from conjunctivitis and sore throats, something that has never happened before.
The solution would be to move the school to the countryside. Which would solve other problems as well, if we could get enough land. That is, the problem of classrooms without ventilation, of insufficient, dark and damp dormitories, of the chronic lack of vegetables and fruit in the diet, of the lack of space to play.
For this reason I started a fundraising, using the only platform that has accepted us, all the others refuse to work with small businesses in Nepal. It would be nice to have an Italian association, but since I'm here, it's difficult to set it up.
I'm stubborn, like my dad, and even if land prices in Nepal are absurdly high, even far from the city, I won't give up until I've taken them to the countryside! :)
